Tomorrow is Thanksgiving so I thought I’d be cliché and write a blog post about the holiday. Despite being fairly creative people in our chosen professions, Ryan and I are a little old-fashion and we like traditions.
Thanksgiving is about turkey, pie and spending time with family. It’s not a time to try out something new like Chinese stuffing or blue cheese stuffing or tortilla chip stuffing. These things all exist by the way - I found them HERE.
Thanksgiving is not the time to try out your new recipe for chocolate-free chocolate brownies, and it’s not the time to introduce the family to tofu pumpkin pie.
The Thanksgiving dinner should feature turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole and cranberries - preferably from a can because that’s what most of us grew up with - and that is the point, really. Thanksgiving is about memories, and when you serve up an unfamiliar culinary creation, well, it's just not very traditional.
Don’t get me wrong, I love culinary experimentation, but not during the holidays. If you want to serve up stuffing pizza (that’s a real thing) alongside the regular stuffing, that’s fine. But mostly, Ryan and I prefer a downhome Thanksgiving meal that’s familiar.
So happy Thanksgiving everyone! We are thankful for all of our clients and the many people who have supported us in this business venture along the way, especially our families. We’ve been at this since 2004, and somehow we’re still at it and still loving each other and life.
